Lee Mannix
Owner, Behavior Consultant, Aggression Specialist
Lee
Mannix is
pack behaviorist who consults on dog behavior and specializes in aggression issues. He is dedicated to a teaching philosophy based on improving relationships between people and their pets. Lee might say he was chased into working with dogs by a German Shepherd that ran him down the street when he was eight. Twelve years later he began his career at the Austin Humane Society/SPCA cleaning kennels. He has a gift with dogs, however, and was promoted within months, first to kennel manager and then into various director positions.
In 1998, Lee left the Humane Society to train people and their dogs at
a boarding and training
facility in the Austin
area. His unique approach to training and his understanding of dog behavior and animal/human relationships has brought him local, state, and national recognition as well as a following of clients from around the country.
Lee is an APDT Member and holds an
accreditation with John
Rogerson's Northern Centre for
Canine Behavior.
He is widely regarded as the last stop for many dogs with aggression and other severe behavior problems.
Taking his success with dogs one step further, in August of 2002 Lee
acted on a dream and opened the Lee Mannix Center for Canine Behavior in Austin, Texas. At the new facility Lee continues to teach classes and impart as much knowledge as he can about dogs through lessons, seminars, and workshops.
Lee sits on the advisory board committee for the Aggie Guide-Dogs & Service-Dogs organization and has held seminars for the American Boarding Kennels Association, shelters and kennels across the country, Old Mother Hubbard, the Australian Cattle Dog Club of America, and the Austin Pet Sitters Organization. He also holds training seminars for canine rescue groups and performs behavior assessments and evaluations. Most notably, Lee has played Santa Claus at the Humane Society of Austin holiday fundraiser, sitting for hours having his picture taken with multitudes of owners and their dogs...gotta love it!
Lee lives in the Greater Austin area and enjoys his two dogs, Creek and Floyd, and several goofy cats. In his spare time, you'll find Lee in a dinghy with fishing pole in hand! |

Shari Elkins,
CPDT
Lead Behavior
Consultant, Trainer,
Intern Coordinator
Like many
people, Shari
met
Lee when she went to
him for help with
her dog's
aggression issues.
She not only was
able to work
successfully with
her dog, but also
wound up training
owners to train
their dogs under
Lee's direction at DogBoy's. Shari is
an excellent trainer
and will
consistently impress
you with her
knowledge of canine
behavior and health
issues. After five
years working with
Lee as a trainer
and in the kennel,
Shari rejoined
Lee in 2004 to help
enlighten and
educate owners and
their dogs.
You might also
come across Shari at
the Animal Trustees
of Austin Spay
Neuter Clinic where
she has been a
veterinary
technician for ten years or
lecturing at
Austin Community
College on
Canine Behavior. Before
working with dogs
she was a physicist
on seismic research
vessels for
Schlumberger. Shari
can be seen out and
about on Town Lake
with at least one if
not all of her
four-dog pack.

Paul
Mann
Trainer,
Behavior Consultant,
Assistive Animal
Specialist
Paul
came to LMCCB as
an intern in
January, 2005. Searching
for ways to fuse
his love for
animals and
desire to help
individuals with
disabilities,
Paul approached
Lee after
hearing about
some of his
programs. Immediately
impressed by
LMCCB’s focus
on truly
improving the
relationship
between dogs and
people, Paul
knew that
Lee’s unique
methods were a
great fit for
him. Prior to
coming to Lee,
Paul gained
experience
working with
individuals with
mental
retardation and
multiple
disabilities at
the Austin State
School (QMRP). Today, he
continues to
work with
individuals with
disabilities
through Special
Education
programs in the
public school
system. Paul is
currently
involved with
therapy dog
programs run by
the Austin
State Hospital and Divine
Canines.
Paul
grew up as the
son of a teacher
and Lutheran
minister. As a
young boy, he
would accompany
his father on
visits to
nursing homes
and hospitals. It is
such experiences
at an early age
that Paul
attributes his
desire to help
others in
vulnerable
situations. Paul went
on to earn a
degree in
Psychology from
the
University
of
Texas and has volunteered for
Safe Place
and the Austin
Humane Society/SPCA. In his
spare time, Paul
enjoys spending
time with his
wife Krislyn and
their Chiweenie,
Tricksy. He also

Jane Del Re
Trainer, Behavior Consultant
A native of South Texas , Jane grew up with many different types of dogs as pets. After earning a degree in Biology, and accidentally landing in the world of high tech sales, Jane has traveled the world to end up right back in Austin , Texas with a dream to help end the unwanted pet problem through training people to have a better relationship with their dogs. Jane was fostering dogs in rescue in 2000 when she came to Lee in regards to an unruly pup. Not only did she get help with that dog, she got a premise on which found a rescue organization that focused on Lee's philosophies on training and behavior modification, making a world of difference in successful adoptions. After several years training with Lee, ironing out aggression, destruction, anxiety, and all of the many behaviors that land a dog in a shelter, Jane realized it was time to get in front of the problem and help people before they get to the point of releasing their pets. She is happily working with the public, and rescue organizations, to help people have the best dogs they can. When not teaching classes, Jane is training her 2 rescued Dalmatians, Isabella and Freckles, and Albert “the Weed”, Border Collie/ Dal mix extraordinaire. Wave when you see that carload of spotted dogs in doggles, you can’t miss them! |

Eugenie Long
Office Manager, Personal Assistant
Eugenie moved from Manhattan, where she served as Executive Liaison to the Board of Trustees and Assistant to the President of ICSC, to the relatively calm life of an Austinite. Looking to incorporate her love of dogs into her profession, Eugenie found herself accepting an administrative position with LMCCB.
When she is not in the office alongside her two dogs, Rio and Scooby Doo. Eugenie can be found traveling with her husband, playing staring games with her cat, Hutch, enjoying the local music scene, and jaywalking. |

Emma Jackson
Office Manager, Personal Assistant
Emma first met Lee in 2004 when the board of Impact Animal Foundation (www.impactanimals.org) (formerly Woodstock) needed some insight on restructuring and help with organizational growing pains. Additionally, as a foster parent for Impact, Emma found herself consulting with Lee time after time for many of her initially insecure and often ill-mannered foster dogs. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a BA in Anthropology, Emma moved to South Florida and worked in the mortgage industry for several years, but soon found herself back at home in Texas and working in social services.
Emma accepted an administrative position with the Mannix Team in the spring of 2009, and is elated to find herself surrounded by people who share the same passions for animal welfare at LMCCB. In her off time you can find Emma, her husband, and their 2-year-old daughter paddling around in Barton Springs or planting in the garden. She shares her busy life with her first-born, four-legged son MacGyver the Survivor (aka Mac), her 2 cats with cerebellar hypoplasia, Bennett & Sullivan, and her two Greek tortoises, Tank & Turbo. |

Inka
Wolter
Trainer,
Dog Tutor
Inka's Chow Mix,
Charlie, led her to
LMCCB seeking some
assistance.
Charlie ultimately
helped her to
connect all the
right dots at all
the right times and
landed her as an
intern at LMCCB in
the Spring of
2007. Still
fairly new to the
world of dogs, Inka
continues to learn
as much as she can
by watching and
listening to the
encouraging and
helpful members (and
Leader) of the
Mannix Pack.
She is particularly
interested in
learning to connect
with and rehabilitate Feral
dogs, as Charlie's
mom was
feral. Inka
completed her LMCCB
internship in
December 2007 and is
now an Assistant
Trainer with us.
Originally from
Germany, Inka
migrated to the US
in 1986 and worked
as a baker and
pastry-chef for 12
years. In 2000
she found herself in
the gardening
industry at
Barton Springs
Nursery . At home, the animal
enthusiast enjoys
caring for her many pets (including
chickens and guinea
pigs).
Outside of gardening
and animals, she
enjoys reading,
jogging and
Yoga...but she'd
rather spend her
extra time playing
with her 4 dogs,
Charlie, Jessy,
Kodiak and
newest member Heidi!

Chris
Schaible
Trainer, Dog Tutor
In
October of 2006,
Chris came to Lee as
an intern seeking
the knowledge and
skills available in
the welcoming
environment LMCCB
strives to create. Always
feeling connected to
animals, Chris spent
his childhood living
with and around dogs. While
pursuing a degree in
Music Performance at
Texas
State
University
, Chris spent a year
working as a kennel
tech at a local
boarding facility...he
enjoyed the chance
to observe hundreds
of canines over this
time.
Realizing the career
of a professional
musician would not
fulfill his longing
to work with
animals, Chris
joined the United
States Air Force to
reevaluate his
philosophy on life. While in
military service,
Chris became
involved with Canine
Agility, a way of
life he feels
passionately about. After four
years in the
military, Chris once
again reflected on
his career path and
feeling a need to be
around dogs, Chris
found LMCCB a place
he now calls
home!
Chris
recently earned his degree in
Psychology from Texas
State University in an
effort to understand people
and their
relationships with
animals.
In February 2008
Chris became an
assistant trainer at
LMCCB where you will
likely meet him in
agility class. When he is
not camping with his
three dogs, he is
competing in Agility
with one of his
Boston Terriers. Currently
Chris is training
his Sheltie to
become the next
Agility dog in the
pack! |

Jyl Hershman-Ross
Trainer, Dog Tutor, Babies and Dogs
After years of "perfect" dogs, the behavior of Jyl's physically challenged mix breed Simone, brought her to consult Lee Mannix. Within 10 months, amazed at the progress made with Simone, and fascinated with the world of dog behavior, Jyl entered the LMCCB Intern program in February 2008 and wouldn't go away, By November she was hired as an assistant trainer and progressed quickly thereafter to full trainer.
Jyl's past includes a BFA in Poetry, decades working on both public and commercial radio, teaching junior high students, a stint in a band, living in a few different states and countries, and a lifetime of pets. When she's not at the center with one of their two dogs (Simone and Alice), Jyl is busy with her husband, their cats, volunteering with Blue Dog Rescue, gardening, playing music, participating as a member of the Development Committee for The ARC of Texas, or avoiding the Texas heat by going to Australia. |
